Jeep is kicking off summer and using a familiar voice to announce it.
An unreleased single featuring the acclaimed 'King of Pop' Michael Jackson is the sound track for the Chrysler brand's newest campaign.
Fiat Chrysler Chief Marketing Officer Olivier Francois announced a partnership with Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid and USA Basketball, launching an ad campaign backed by Jackson singing "Love Never Felt So Good." The song is featured on Jackson’s newest album "XSCAPE" from Epic this month.
Francois said he pounced on the huge opportunity to link the Jeep brand to a priceless unreleased Jackson song.
"Jeep is an American icon as much as Michael Jackson is an American icon," said Francois in a press release. "Jeep is timeless as much as Michael Jackson is timeless."
Earlier this month, Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne touted the Jeep brand as a key driver of global growth in his five-year business plan. Like Jeep, Jackson was a global entertainer who was just as popular overseas as in the U.S.
"There's nothing more global when it comes to American brands than Jeep," Francois said.
One of the spots helps to show this worldly ambition, showing a group of Brazilians celebrating the World Cup as they wave their country’s flag.
Summer and sports often go hand-in-hand and that theme comes to the court in another commercial. Two of the four new 30-second spots feature USA Basketball national team member Kyrie Irving, star point guard for the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers. Irving impresses his buddies as he drives around in his white Wrangler with the top down and buries a three pointer through the roof. Whether it be the late Michael Jackson or a budding NBA superstar, Jeep is bring its game to TV this summer.
