What comes to mind when you think of a Jeep? Sporty? Four-wheel drive? Certainly not compact, right? Small? C'mon.

The 2015 Jeep Renegade, revealed this past week at the New York International Auto Show, will certainly bring a fresh look to the Jeep line. Jeep's first subcompact SUV will have two trim levels, the Renegade Base and Renegade Trailhawk, both equipped with four-wheel drive.

"The Renegade will come standard with a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder with 160-horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque with a six-speed manual transmission, with an option to step up to a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 184-hp and 177 lb-ft of torque, paired to Chrysler's 9-speed automatic," Chrysler said in a statement.

"Trailhawk models add a low 20:1 crawl ratio, low-speed pedal mapping and low-gear shift strategy for more serious rock-hopping. Full fuel economy figures have yet to be released, but Jeep promises "more than 30 mpg" with the more powerful 2.4-liter engine."

Jeep wasn't shy about adding in some bells and whistles to their new SUV.

There are two removable roof panels to let the sunshine in over front and rear seating areas, or alternatively, a power sunroof can be ordered in its place.

Jeep also hid so-called “easter eggs," that owners get to discover when they own the car. Chrysler mentions if a customer were to look for a Jeep silhouette on the wheels or Jeep's trademark face on the inside of the tailgate, they might see these little surprises.

Change, in this case, is definitely a good thing and with the 2015 Renegade soon hitting roads and trails in North America, you really shouldn't miss it.
